Comprehensive weld studies, full-scale diaphragm tests and their evaluation were conducted by Dr. Larry Luttrell, P.E., professional consultant to the SDI and author of the Steel Deck Institute Diaphragm Design Manual.

All steel deck fasteners are evaluated and tested for combined uplift and shear loading.
