The Loadmaster Terminator System

Every roof has weak points — the edges, eaves, rakes, expansion joints, parapet walls, hips, ridges, and valleys where the deck changes plane or terminates. These are historically the places roofs fail first, because they've traditionally relied on wood blocking: material that swells, shrinks, rots, and pulls loose from the steel structure over time.

Engineered for Every Challenge

The Terminator System replaces all of that with a single engineered solution. It's an assembly of fabricated steel components that form structural composite units, creating the termination and transition assemblies for the entire roof deck system — permanent, galvanized steel shapes designed and engineered to fit together and meet termination and transition needs far more adequately than wood ever could.

Loadmaster Terminator Edge Detail

Loadmaster’s termination detail is designed for use at roof edges, flat expansion joints, and non-raised curb roof openings. This component design provides high structural composite performance, with the roof deck section having considerably more structural strength as a completed assembly when compared to the strength of its individual components. These details can support gravity loads, serve as shear collectors for diaphragm shear loads, resist wind uplift loads, and eliminate the need for steel angles at these locations.

Loadmaster’s edge detail (as illustrated in the above image) connects roof edges and rakes on sloped roof construction to act as an anchor with the roof deck assembly. This technology empowers it with increased holding strength to preserve the connection against extreme stress. Roof coverings can also be attached by screws into the flanges provided on these details to eliminate the roof covering edge peel that can result from hurricane force winds.

Loadmaster Terminator Hip, Ridge and Valley Details

Hips, ridges, and valleys are where a roof deck changes direction — and where field-built wood transitions have always been the weak link. Loadmaster's Terminator System replaces that guesswork with engineered, factory-fabricated steel transition assemblies purpose-built for these geometry changes. Constructed entirely of galvanized steel-gauge metals with no wood involved, these transition assemblies are engineered to meet the same structural performance standards as the rest of the Loadmaster deck.

Because the components are pre-engineered rather than shimmed and framed on-site, every hip, ridge, and valley gets a consistent, code-compliant transition that ties directly into the surrounding steel deck assembly — eliminating the need for wood blocking and, in many cases, perimeter structural steel altogether. That means fewer moisture-prone joints, less risk of movement or splitting over time, and a roofline that holds its structural integrity everywhere the plane breaks.

Loadmaster Terminator Wall Detail

Where the roof meets the wall is where most roofs fail first and it's exactly where Loadmaster's engineered Terminator System earns its keep. Instead of relying on wood blocking that swells, rots, and pulls loose over time, the Terminator wall detail uses fabricated, galvanized steel components engineered to form structural composite units that create the termination assembly at parapet walls, replacing unstable wood blocking fastened to steel members.

The result is a permanent, all-steel transition that resists gravity loads at the roof edge while giving the membrane a stable, engineered surface to terminate against — virtually eliminating the membrane stress that drives premature failure at wall terminations. Built-in expansion joint provisions let the assembly move with temperature swings without compromising the overall roof deck assembly, and when installed by a trained Loadmaster dealer, it's backed to provide trouble-free service for the life of the building
